Do you need a little knowledge, wisdom, power and wealth in your life? In the Polynesian culture, a tiki is known as a symbol of all these gifts. As luck would have it, our very own SEPR Tiki possess all of these qualities and so much more. 

 

As a younger girl, probably around three years old, Tiki demonstrates much wisdom and knowledge. She has proven to be a master at learning cues. So far, she has learned sit, wait, look, whoa, outside, gentle, leave it, up, off, out, and shake. She also responds quickly when you call her name and loves the nonverbal cue of patting the couch, indicating she can come up for some pets and snuggles! Couch snuggles are one of her favorite things to do and after some activity she would love to sit close and enjoy your love for hours.

 

As such a smart girl though, Tiki’s foster family has learned that she requires daily mental stimulation to be successful. Using her nose to search for treats and running through her obedience commands daily is right up her alley. Tiki loves to play hide and seek games with her food! After all, why eat out of a bowl when you can make a game out of your meals!

 

When you think of power, you probably think of muscle and strength. Although Tiki is an athletic girl who can hurdle the couch with ease, she loves to use her athleticism to show off her agility! Tiki has been a true master at learning physical commands and combinations of commands. Since Tiki is so food motivated, the sky is really the limit with her training! Tiki’s foster family is working on her jumping to greet humans but she is getting better with practice.

 

The true power though that Tiki possesses is the power to love her people unconditionally and without reserve. This girl will mesmerize you with her soulful gaze and snuggle in to rest her head in your lap or enjoy a belly rub. Tiki has nice leash skills and would love to go for a walk with you or be your adventure partner. Her foster family is working through some dog reactivity when Tiki sees another dog when out on a walk. Tiki Is getting better at her leave it command, but this is definitely a work in progress for her.

 

Tiki really has a wealth of untapped potential just waiting for the right person to recognize and cultivate. She learns very quickly and is such a smart girl. She is treat motivated and could likely learn a plethora of new things if a snack was involved. With a dedicated human, Tiki will certainly be able to shine!

 

Tiki absolutely loves squeaky toys and will toss them for herself and entertain herself when you become busy. She also loves to show you her toys and will run over and grab one to show you as soon as you walk into the room. So although Tiki will likely not make you rich, she does have a wealth of love and learning to share with her forever humans.

 

Like most dogs that come to rescue, Tiki has definitely not had the easiest life so far. She is looking for stability and love to help her grow her confidence and be her best doggie self, but what we have seen so far from this girl shows us that with a human who will invest time and energy to challenge her, Tiki is going to make the most amazing very best friend any person could want!
