Nate is approximately 4 years old, but he’s just starting to discover what it means to be loved. After spending most of his life on a chain and surviving a tough start—including weathering Hurricane Helene in an outdoor kennel down in Georgia—Nate made his way to South Dakota for a fresh start. His early days in rescue revealed some health challenges like heartworm and itchy skin, but this resilient boy has been on the mend and is now ready to find his forever home!

Nate hasn’t let his past define him. He is a bundle of joy, eager to share his love with humans of all ages. His favorite thing? Belly rubs! You’ll often find Nate rolling onto his back, flashing that sweet smile, and hoping for a good scratch. Now that he’s feeling better, we’re seeing more of his playful side—he’s learning the joy of chew toys, the fun of catch, and is motivated to learn new tricks (especially when treats are involved). And when he’s really happy, his little Tippy Tappy Happy Toes come out, making everyone around him smile.
