Rocko has the colorings of your favorite pint of rocky road ice cream and is just as sweet…..although you might not know it by looking at him. This stoic handsome man also has the personality and brains to go with his stunning good looks.

 

Rocko came into SEPR after being in rough shape, suffering from significant allergies causing secondary skin infections and substantial hair loss from his previous life of neglect. Rocko is on the upswing after several rounds of medication to tackle skin infections, daily apoquel, and quality grain-free food! He still has small portions of thinning hair; with time, he has started to grow some hair back, but he might always have small amounts of missing hair. With allergies and skin conditions, bath time is necessary, but don’t worry it’s not a problem for Rocko. He will gladly hop in the tub for treats and a licki mat to occupy him while he bathes with medicated shampoo to help his skin and coat stay healthy. He loves the licki mat so much he will stand in the bathtub and wait for it if he thinks it’s bath day. Since he is now looking and feeling much better, bathing has been backed down to maybe every other week!

 

Rocko has settled in and quickly learned the ropes with his foster family's home. He has such an exuberance for feeling excellent and fancy-free, and he needs it to be known. He likes to "speak" about it. Rocko has been working very hard on not jumping on people when he is excited to greet them. He is very food motivated, so training time is easy; he picked up on sit, wait, and look immediately. Rocko has gotten quite good with his commands. He currently has mastered sit, stay, lay, wait, down, shake, and look!

 

Rocko has no issues with going in his kennel. He also enjoys a good nylabone, veggie-filled kong, and marrow bone when the foster parents are away from home. House training was a breeze for this kid. He barely pays any attention to the loud neighbor dogs at the fence line when doing his daily duties.

 

Rocko is a rocky road rock star when it comes to sitting and waiting for his food, whether it comes from his slow feeder bowl or his kong wobbler. With Rocko's world-class smarts, we like to keep his mind focused on fun, positive outlets to let him enjoy his new world. Food puzzles, hide and seek, flirt pole, and some good nose work are all up this dude's alley.

 

Rocko has met the big and little resident dogs and has done well with the meetings. He is very canine social and has learned that the senior canines of the house might not share his same vitality for life. Before coming to SEPR, he also enjoyed play dates with many other shelter residents. He seems to thrive with canine interaction and would highly enjoy a female canine friend in his new forever family. While he isn't reactive out and about, small things like cats still tend to pique his interest too much to be a full-time resident with them.

 

Rocko does excellent on walks; he currently wears a backpack which adds a little weight and puts him in working mode.

 

With his patchy hair and talkative personality, Rocko is one of a kind, making him a great companion. Rocko can genuinely be the life of any party and the king of any adventure. He is young and fun, and if you’re looking for a co-pilot, sidekick, or wingman, this is your dude.
