about poppy
Meet Poppy! Named after the poppy flower, a vibrant and delicate bloom, she is more than just a pretty sight; she has a personality that shines just as brightly. A symbol of resilience, strength, and endurance. Just like the flower she is named after.
Miss Poppy came to us from Hazelhurst, Georgia. She was found at an abandoned residence in poor condition. Despite her rough start, she is now thriving in a loving foster home surrounded by furry companions.
Poppy lives with 3 other large dogs and a cat. Her best mate is a male pit bull who she loves to romp and play around with. She gets along with all her furry siblings, and we feel she could be a great addition to a family that already has a nice laid back four legged gentleman, as long as clear boundaries are established and managed.
Poppy is likely around 2 years old. She is house and crate trained. She has aced her basic commands of sit, down and stay and is eager to learn more advanced commands. She gladly goes into her crate with a frozen Kong full of yumminess!
Poppy is a little reserved, as she was abandoned to fend for herself. She first fears males, but that will change after you earn her trust. She will warm up to other men with time and trust because her foster dad is her favorite person! Just watch that butt wiggle when he comes home. It's the cutest thing ever. Poppy is working on building confidence by people watching in parking lots. We are keeping her spatial bubble small and allowing her to slowly acclimate on her timeline.
Now cleared of heartworms she has energy to burn. Going on walks and playing in the yard are a must to keep her happy and healthy. She loves car rides and is equally happy to relax on her dog bed or her favorite is to snuggle on the couch with her human. This girl absolutely loves her dog toys! That is, to de-fluff and destroy all dog toys.
Poppy is a smart and affectionate dog who would thrive in a home with a quiet family willing to provide her with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation while understanding her limitations. She is eager to please and would make a loyal companion for anyone looking for a furry friend to join their household.
With patience and consistency, Poppy will continue to thrive in a home that provides her with love, structure, and plenty of activity.
